Filled with constant touring and many an album release, Architecture in Helsinki have taken little time off over the last few years. BARRY GIBB
One of the most celebrated and successful artists and songwriters in the history of popular music, this will be Barry’s first major concert performance in Australia since his last appearance with The Bee Gees at Sydney’s Olympic Stadium in 1999.

COLDPLAY
The release of 2008’s Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends saw Coldplay return to the forefront of the music scene selling millions of copies and shooting to #1 around the world. Certified 3x Platinum in Australia, Coldplay will open the Sydney Concert.
ESKIMO JOE
Eskimo Joe propelled themselves from regulars on the local Perth scene to one of Australia’s biggest bands. From the humble beginnings of 2001’s Girl to the stadium sized Black Fingernails, Red Wine, Eskimo Joe have helped stamp Perth on the world music map. In May 2009 Eskimo Joe release their fourth album and will further take on the world as they tour Europe through March and April.
HOODOO GURUS
Hoodoo Gurus will come together in 2009 to perform at Sound Relief. A 2007 induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame signalled the return of one of Australia’s greatest rock bands. After numerous tours Sound Relief will see the band performing to their largest crowd since their 2003 reformation. Spawning iconic albums including Stoneage Romeo and Mars Needs Guitars, Hoodoo Gurus are sure to bring their best on March 14.
ICEHOUSE
Icehouse achieved mainstream success in Europe and the US during the ‘80s utilising the then untapped genre of synthpop, helping catapult them into the top ten around the world. Icehouse’s iconic status was cemented in 2006 when inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. Famous for songs incluing ‘Great Southern Land’, ‘Hey Little Girl’ and ‘Electric Blue’, Icehouse will return for their first major performance in years for Sound Relief.
JET
Jet stormed the world stage in 2003 following the release of debut album Get Born and infectious single ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl?’ 2006 brought the release of sophomore album Shine On, and 2008 saw a lifelong dream realized when the band collaborated with Iggy Pop. In 2009 Jet will take time out from recording their highly anticipated third album for their first major performances in over a year at Sound Relief in Melbourne and Sydney.
JOSH PYKE
Josh Pyke will take time out from his hectic touring schedule – both in Australia and abroad – to perform at Sound Relief in 2009. His debut record Memories & Dust picked up three ARIA awards and notched up Gold sales, however it was the release of Josh’s sophomore record, Chimney’s Afire, that signalled to the world he was here to stay. Debuting at #1 on the Australian ARIA chart, Chimney’s Afire has spawned singles ‘The Lighthouse Song’ and ‘Make You Happy’ – the video clip for the latter even saw Josh zipping around Sydney Harbour in a guitar boat.
LITTLE BIRDY
Little Birdy have become one of Australia’s most loved bands, spawning a number of hit singles, two top ten albums, and taking headlining positions on some of the country’s most revered festivals. Little Birdy release their third album Confetti in 2009 to high expectations, and you can be sure they’ll exceed all of them.
THE PRESETS
In 2008 The Presets announced to Australia that they had truly arrived after sweeping the ARIA awards with a phenomenal six wins for their album Apocalypso. The album produced five anthemic singles that have been embraced nation wide, making you hard pressed to find someone not yet initiated into The Presets’ cult. After headlining all major festivals across Australia in the last 18 months, The Presets will be in fine form come March 14.
TAYLOR SWIFT
At just 19 years old, Taylor Swift was America’s #1 female artist in 2009 – an accolade usually reserved for the likes of Britney Spears or Madonna. Her sophomore album Fearless debuted at #1 on the US Billboard chart – to date it has spent a phenomenal 10 weeks in the #1 position. Taylor’s maiden voyage to Australia is proving to be a successful event with many shows already sold out. Taylor will take time out from her busy schedule to help give back to those in need.
WOLFMOTHER
Firm favorites on the live scene, Wolfmother will return to the stage for the first time in over eight months for Sound Relief, playing both Melbourne and Sydney. Their debut album shot them to worldwide prominence and saw them collect three ARIA awards and a Grammy Award. With the promise of a new album on the way, 2009 will see an invigorated Wolfmother back in the market.
YOU AM I
You Am I have spent a phenomenal 20 years servicing music in both Australia and abroad. Undoubtedly the favorite sons of Australian Rock, You Am I have an incredible 11 album releases under their belt, including classics Hi Fi Way and Hourly Daily, capped off by 2008’s rapturously received Dilettantes.
