Melbourne’s Augie March dominated the airwaves in 2007 with the sensational single Crowded Hour, which went on to top the Triple J Hot 100 for that year. Their new album Watch Me Disappear (Sony) was released in October 2008 to critical acclaim with the hit single ‘Pennywhistle’. Augie March will take time out from their busy upcoming touring schedule to appear as part of Sound Relief.

Bliss N Eso are possibly one of Australia’s hardest working hip hop acts. It hasn’t gone unnoticed however with their third album Flying Colours (Illusive Sounds) debuting Top Ten on the ARIA Album charts. They went on to cement their success at the 2008 ARIA Awards, taking the Hip Hop Award home with them. 2009 saw three of their songs appear in the Triple J Hot 100, a phenomenal result that was only shared by six other artists.
GABRIELLA CILMI
Melbourne sweetheart Gabriella Cilmi will be the youngest star to grace the Sound Relief stage at just 17. It hasn’t stopped her from taking the world by storm though, cleaning up the 2008 ARIA Awards with 8 wins on the strength of her #1 album Lessons To Be Learned and a Top Ten single spot for single Sweet About Me on the UK singles chart.
HUNTERS & COLLECTORS
Reforming especially for Sound Relief, this will be the band’s first concert performance in over a decade. Considered to be one of Australia’s finest rock bands, Hunters and Collectors top the iconic list for many Australians. So rare is the chance to see them perform together, their appearance is already being touted as one of the must sees of Sound Relief.

Kasey Chambers & Shane Nicholson took the ARIA charts by storm last year, with their album Rattlin’ Bones debuting in the #1 spot on the ARIA album charts. With a Platinum accreditation, an ARIA and 5 Golden Guitar Awards under their belt there’s no doubt that Kasey and Shane are one dynamic music pairing.
TROY CASSAR-DALEY
is an icon in Australian country music with a new album I Love This Place due for release in April. On a recent trip to Melbourne to visit his record label Troy took off from his meeting early, jumped in the car and headed off to entertain Whittlesea locals in the aftermath of the devastating bushfires.
JACK JOHNSON
Hawaii-born Jack Johnson gave away filmmaking and surfing careers in favour of his musical ambitions, doing so to a resounding response. With three successive #1 albums in Australia, it’s easy to see why this smooth rocker considers Australia his second home.
JET
Jet stormed the world stage in 2003 following the release of their debut album Get Born and the infectious single ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl?’. 2006 brought the release of sophomore album Shine On, and 2008 saw a lifelong dream realized when the band collaborated with Iggy Pop. In 2009 Jet will take time out from recording their highly anticipated third album for their first major performances in over a year at Sound Relief in both Melbourne and Sydney.
KINGS OF LEON
In 2009 there is no bigger band than the Kings Of Leon. Their current album Only By The Night is 7 times Platinum and their Australia/New Zealand took just hours to sell out. Kings of Leon will perform a strictly limited number of songs in Melbourne on the afternoon of the 14th March ahead of their own sell out concert that night at Rod Laver Arena.
LIAM FINN
There’s never a dull moment when this multi-talented, multi-tasking songsmith is on stage. The bedrock of his artistic identity, Liam switches between guitar and drums, and has performed on The Late Show with David Letterman, and alongside Eddie Vedder on his American solo tour. Liam’s debut solo album I’ll Be Lightning showcased not only his innate ability to craft beautiful melodies, but also his incredible musicianship.
MIDNIGHT OIL
Midnight Oil need little introduction. The original musical activists, Midnight Oil have built a career from wearing their ethics on their sleeves, and standing up for what they believe. With a career spanning 30 years, 11 albums, and countless tours, Midnight Oil are a staple for all Australians. Coming together for a one-off performance, Midnight Oil will reform for Melbourne’s Sound Relief concert.
PAUL KELLY
The eight-time ARIA Award winner and ARIA Hall of Fame inductee is renowned for his powerful lyrics and passionate performances. Paul released Songs From The South Volume 2, in November last year along with a DVD collection of music videos he has made over the past 23 years.
SPLIT ENZ
They might have NZ in their name, but Split Enz call Melbourne their second home, raking up an impressive back catalogue of hits across their career. They last performed in Australia in 2006 with a sold out tour of arena venues. Split Enz have reformed for a one-off especially for Sound Relief.
WOLFMOTHER
Firm favorites on the live scene, Wolfmother will return to the stage for the first time in over eight months for Sound Relief, playing both Melbourne and Sydney. Their debut album shot them to worldwide prominence and saw them collect three ARIA awards and a Grammy Award. With the promise of a new album on the way, 2009 will see an invigorated Wolfmother back in the market.
